Gameday Connections

You know how to hit a home-run, or sink a three-pointer, or get your body over a high bar without touching it.  Few in the world can do what you can.  Impressive.  And you will have those memories for the rest of your life.

But, now you are on your own.  There is no more financial aid flowing your way, no steadier paycheck from your team owner.  Now you are learning some fundamental practices of life that the rest of us already had to learn.  Welcome to the club!

One area of tremendous importance is that of insurance.  It is crucial that you understand a little bit about insurance and that you obtain some for yourself.

Top 3 types of Insurance

Auto Insurance

We start here because this is probably the one you know best.  This is a no-brainer.  If you are going to drive a car, you must have auto insurance.  It’s the law.  Don’t go with the cheapest thing you can find.  Go with a brand name.

Health Insurance

You probably have enjoyed free health insurance through your schools or teams.  But, now you are on your own.  There are many companies offering health insurance, each with differing benefits and costs.  Research them online, print them out, and compare.  By law, now, you have to have some form of health insurance.  Besides, it’s smart. You want to be prepared for unexpected illnesses or accidents.

Life insurance

This is the cheapest one for you at this point in your life and well-worth the money.  For a small monthly amount, you can insure that, in the unlikely event of your premature death, your loved-ones receive compensation.  The younger and healthier you are, the cheaper the cost.

There are other types of insurance, such as homeowners, renters, and disability.  It would be wise to read-up on all of them.  Insurance is something you want to take seriously and handle wisely.
